Dunrobin Castle

Just South of Brora lies the most northerly of Scotland’s ‘great houses’, Dunrobin Castle. Perched majestically on an outlay of formal gardens, Dunrobin Castle dates back to the 1300’s and is widely noted for its remarkable French Chateau inspired architecture of conical spires. Its grand scale of 189 rooms marks it the largest private estate home in the Highlands. The estate is open for public visits through the castle’s regal interior as well as in and around the colourful stately gardens. Daily falconry shows take place featuring aerobatic displays of peregrine falcons, golden eagles and exotic European eagle owls. The Dunrobin Castle Museum is open to public for those interested in a detailed timeline of the grounds’ royal history.

Clynelish Distillery

Following a multimillion-pound redevelopment, the iconic Clynelish Distillery  recently re-opened its doors to the public. The brand-new visitor centre provides a ‘multi-sensory experience’ with tours that uncover the colourful history of the distillery. Expect a detailed overview of the distilling processes involved in crafting the perfect local tipple. Clynelish is one of the Four Corners of Johnnie Walker distilleries renowned in the world of Scottish Malt Whisky.
